Erik Erikson's study of psychsocial psychology is broken down into 8 stages. The first stage starts at birth and continues to about 1 1/2 years of age. In this stage it is said to be the time when the infant is looking to find hope. By saying this it means that at the time of infancy then child looks for someone they can trust. Someone such as a parents, siblings, or other family member. When the child recieves a rational amount of love and attention from one said person. The child begins to put trust and hope into that person, so that they have someone to rely on in the chances of ever having a dhelema. So in that way that child knows. ohh thats persons always been there for me, i'll turn to them for help.

The next stage is the autonomy vs. shame stage which occurs from the age of 1 1/2 to 3 years of age. In this stage the child either devolopes a sense of self esteem in being able to accomplish things on their own. Or a sense of shame and doubt in their selves. This view on themselves mostly comes from the parents, or in fact anyonewho asks the child to perform a certain task. If the said parent gives the child time to perform the task and does not help and the child can complete the task on their own. It causes the child to gain self confidence because they was able to do the task all on their own. However, if the parent is very impatient and demands the child to do it right that very second and gets upset if the child doesnt complete the task in their recuired ampount of time. The child may begin to doubt themselves and look at theirself with shame.

The 3rd stage in Erikson's study is the initiative vs. guilt stage. Which developes from age 3 to 5. The child gains a sense of purpose in this stage of development. The child iill try to accomplish a certain task during this stage just for the sake of doing it. Which is called initiative. However. this initiative can be deminished by guilt if they do not succeed in performing this task.

The 4th stage is industry vs. inferiorty. this stage lasts from 5 to 12. In this stage if a child is given a task to complete and they try their best and are rewared they begin to demonstrate indrustry. However, even if a child trys their hardest and are still not rewarded, but are punished, they will begin to devlope inferiorty. Becaus e they will see no sense in trying their hardest if no matter twhat they get no praise.

In the 5th stage of Erikson's development adolecents (12-18) begin to look for their place in life. whether in a relationship or in their future. At this time children begin to look for clues to where they belong in life. They expieremnet in hope to find their calling.

From 18- 40 is the intimacy vs. isolation satge. People will try to form bonds with others. As a way to try and find freinds wiht like qualities. Some one to be intiment with, whether it be a friend or a partner. However, if someone can not find someone to associate with or keeps getting pushed away everytime they try. The person will give up and begin to become isolated. The second to last stage is the generativity vs. stagnation stage.

It takes up most of adulthood ( 40-65). In this stage people either have the oppertunity to try and guide the next generation to do right, which is generativity or they will feel as if all the wokr they have done with theor life has not got them very far and they will begin to feel very satnate.

And lastly, the final stage of Erikson's study is the ego integrity vs.despair stage which is age 65 to death. At the end of an elderly person life they will look back at their life and decide whether or not their happy with the outcome. If the said person was happy with what they accomplished in their life time. They will have a sense of integrity. Howver, if that person is not very pleased with what they did in their life they will have a sense of despair.
